Salvation and Baptism

Baptism

Baptism at Church of The Way is a celebration like no other. When a person fully surrenders their lives to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we provide an opportunity for them to take a step of obedience and make their faith public. Baptism is the public declaration that a person identifies as a follower of Jesus. To be baptized is to live the way of Jesus. At CTW, we baptize by immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit everyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior. While we do not baptize babies, we do believe that a young child that has the ability to understand their sin, their need for a savior and that Jesus' death burial and resurrection  provide their forgiveness and redemption, they can take the next step to be baptized.
Acts 2:28-41,47; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:36-40; 10:47; 18:8; Romans 6:3-4; I Corinthians 12:13

Children and Baptism

Jesus loves children and wanted nothing more than for the children he was around to know Him.  At CTW, we never pressure a child into making a decision to fully surrender to Jesus however we certainly set the table so they can know who He is, what did He and how to receive Him as Lord and Savior. We understand that while a child can be very imprsssiobable, the decisions they make at an early age can have life long ramifications. Our desire is to see every child who attends Church of The Way and our Wayfinders ministry to live the way of Jesus.
Often times, due to pressure from friends, family or their peers, children will make decisions without much regard to what is actually going on. While we do not have an official baptism class (not yet) for kids, we do have some resources that we believe are extremely important for parents to walk through with their child. We understand that as a parent you want nothing more than for your child to choose Jesus and willingly sign up to be baptized but it is of utmost important that this is what your child is choosing to do.
In order to support our parents and to assure that every child who desires to be baptized is, we have provided two resources for parents. One is a parents guide to salvation and the other is a parents guide to baptism. These resources are to be used as conversation guides to help you have the discussion with your child about salvation and baptism. Please know that as a church, we are here to support you and cheer you on but you are the greatest influence in your Childs life so these conversations are so important for you to have with them. If we can assist you with any additional information or for guidance, please let us know. We are here to serve you and you love and lead your child to living the way of Jesus.
